looking back, looking forward | Wednesday Dec 31, 2008
2008 is almost over and it's time for a short review. As you might remember I quit my job in March 2008. I worked as a financial controller (business administration) for about 8 years and finally found it too boring to do it for the rest of my life. After this big step I went to school for half a year and took lessons in print and web design. Besides to that I worked as a photographer doing business portraits, wedding etc. From now on I'll be working as a webdesigner and photographer. Furthermore, I plan to start my own business in the sector of fine art prints (with photos/paintings from various artists, not only my own photos).
Looking back, I am really happy about the decision I took. So this is my advice for you for 2009: If you don't like your job and you want to do something different, just do it. It's possible if you really want it. As Mr. Obama would say: Yes, we can. :)

Congratulations on your move: Doing something we love as a living is priceless and a great step if you're looking to live a happy life. Working in a place you don't like is very depressing. Quitting it is hard. I did it two months ago. Quit the job I had for eight years to give all I got to become a professionnal photographer. Design also interests me a lot.
